If you rack them up, then I can break

[personal profile] rushthatspeaks and I did not have self-rising flour, but we did have a serious tub of homemade tzatziki courtesy of a friend of the family, so we added the requisite compensations of baking soda and baking powder to a cup of all-purpose flour and made naan—Rush had seen the recipe—to accompany the lamb chops we fried in olive oil and a rogan josh spice blend. It was delicious. It felt slightly like magic and/or cheating. We finished the first season of One Piece (2023–) and can now wait impatiently with everyone else for the next hundred chapters of manga compressed and realized beautifully. I've never read the manga either; the episode we've reached (and that gave me that feeling) was the one with Nami's backstory. If you haven't seen that one yet, maybe don't translate out the text.

Like I say, maybe it all gets resolved in a copacetic way. I have an email in with my Total One Piece Fan offspring, who will be able to let me know.

ETA: So he assures me that it's resolved in the manner I'd hope it would be. *phew*

(We've just finished the entire first season, so we've seen that set of episodes.) --Oh right! You said so in the entry! Somehow in our comment thread I misapprehended and thought you'd only seen a scattering of them, but right: you said from the beginning you'd just concluded the season. So you already knew!

Having seen the end

Hmmm. In the end, I wasn't happy with the Arlong plotline resolution. The tall one tells me that in the manga, the whole thing about the slavery issue wasn't brought up until later, and at that point (so he tells me) they address those wrongs. Since that couldn't possibly happen in the scope of this season, I would have preferred to have Arlong presented as I guess he was in the early chapters of the manga--as just a particularly powerful adversary, and not have him go into all that backstory.

That said, I did love the overall ending of the series, with the characters' child-selves saying their goals, and with all their loved ones looking proudly at the wanted poster. Very very fun. A good show!

ETA: I probably should have ROT13'd all that too, but now that this entry is bck pages, maybe no one stumble this far down the thread...
