I want to feel you in motion
Once again I aten't dead, but I am very tired and I miss my brain. I came into this month with a whole bunch of movies I wanted to write about and seem to be able to combobulate intellectually for none of them, even the ones where I had all sorts of feelings at the time. I am falling asleep in the afternoons and evenings. I am discussing my physical state with more doctors than should be necessary. On the other hand, I have written my first original fiction not only since the start of this year, but since 2020. I blame the recent heat wave, which made me want to think about ice. I was able to see
rushthatspeaks enough to give him his anniversary present, a compendium of tiki culture history and recipes which has already furnished one cocktail too hilarious not to make. (I like many tiki drinks unironically since they tend to be rum-based, but I don't think it is possible to enjoy anything but ironically a drink that comes served in a cucumber.) I can't believe the High Holidays start at the end of this week.
P.S. We had to run some errands in Davis Square, which is how I had a lovely conversation about the music teachers at my former high school, ancient Near Eastern baking, and anarcho-communism in One Piece with the bread clerk at When Pigs Fly and took a picture of myself looking like one of
spatch's characters from Fallout 76. Now to be prone under a cat.

(Also, I unironically want to know more about the drink served in a cucumber.)

Thank you! It does in fact make my brain feel a lot more like mine.

Per Jeff Berry's Beachbum Berry's Sippin' Safari (2007/2017), it was invented in 1957 by Joe Scialom of the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is called the Cou-Cou-Comber.

The Beachcomber cocktail looks like it would be a disaster with cucumber, or at least I think maraschino and cucumber would be a disaster.

Thank you! I will take improvement in increments. It beats the alternative.

The cucumber drink sounds very amusing.

Thank you! It had begun to feel like a very bad sign that I wasn't anymore.
The cucumber drink sounds very amusing.
I appreciate the combination of (a) completely reasonable cocktail ingredients (b) served in a cucumber. I don't know why I find it funnier than the class of tiki drinks that are served in a coconut or a grapefruit or what have you, but I do.

Thank you!
And that's also fabulous about the fiction! I hope it becomes available for us to read at some point.
I hope so, too. It is at a market and I do not know its chances, but I have my fingers crossed. I would like it to have a home.
I hope your time as a cat cushion is mutually happy making for both you and the cat.
Eventually I had to get up and eat dinner, which was a tragedy for the cat.

The cucumber drink sounds fascinating!
I would drink it even without the cucumber (I don't love vodka as a cocktail base, but I do enjoy Pernod), but I am very interested to see what the cucumber does for the experience!

Thank you. It's been a doctor-circuit summer.
