All this sunshine's making me dizzy

It is a particularly bad time to be embroiled in a fight with our health insurance over proving our existence sufficient to be covered for all the doctors I am currently seeing and this afternoon was something of a wall of calls on both fronts, but last night [personal profile] spatch and I were given an extra slice more of the sausage and ricotta than we had actually ordered from Dragon Pizza and ran with our largesse around the corner to Kenney Park where we were not the only people eating out of a hand-painted pizza box and tonight we walked a new loop of the Mystic around sunset and found a park bench left over from the pre-hostile architecture era and quick as cats lay down on it and Rob sang me Free Hot Lunch's "Hymn #694" and I just listened to an hour of college radio and can't decide if a playlist of songs from the turn of the twenty-first century counts as vintage or just throwback, but it turns out the one where we came in sounded familiar because it was Massive Attack's "Teardrop." I am cautiously concluding that where Winter Hill abounded in roses, our new neighborhood seems to be full of lilacs, white and purple and drifting fragrance down the streets. All of these things are just as real as my phone bill and free pizza is nothing to be sneezed at, either.

I had never heart Hymn #694; that is brilliant. Great lyrics, great harmonies! (If he managed to sing in harmony with himself, he is MAGIC)

Glad for the songs, the college radio, the drifting lilacs, and the free pizza--experiential rebels against the insurance companies and the phone bills.

Lilacs for you, curse tablets for the insurers.

My allergies beg to differ :-)

Possibly it's because I've been watching Schmigadoon, but "As Real As My Phone Bill" feels like a life-affirming song from an early '70s musical.

I adore the smell of lilacs. Even though I am a bit allergic to them.

I hope your health insurance company starts to behave itself.

Free pizza and lilacs are excellent. (Weirdly, a random lilac bush is blooming amid a patch of weeds next to my apartment building's parking lot. I am pleased.)

The jacarandas are still biding their time. They're very late this year, I assume because we had a longer winter than usual.
