I'm trying to know what each moment asks me
Today we celebrated the ninth birthday of Tybalt Autolycus Taaffe and Hestia Hermia Linsky-Noyes, once kittens of destiny, now cats of legend. My niece was delighted to point out that she and they are the same age—at least, she corrected herself conscientiously, until December when she becomes older. We gave them salmon. She petted Autolycus and he butted his head into the inside of her wrist again and again.

None of the pictures of headbutting came out, but here she strokes his back very gently.

I left my desk briefly with Bertie and returned to find Simon and Garfunkel's Cecilia, cat edition.

The most beautiful Autolycus on his birthday.

The most beautiful Hestia on her birthday.
In the evening, we lit the yahrzeit candle for my grandmother. It will be her centenary in the spring. These things are always overlapping. I don't think I am used to time.

My ugly but very friendly tortie says hi. XD

The bonus funny thing about this story is that my grandfather used to tell a very similar one about the experience of having children.

For a little context that you may or may not have: I'm totally blind. I'm picturing a fabulous multicolored floofball tortie in the icon.
The tripod torbie in *this* icon is also a lovebug people kitty.

(I am sighted; it's not clear to me if e.g. a screenreader provides that information for DW icons; I will ask a friend about that who has relevant expertise - my icons have keywords & descriptions BUT I have never figured out how one accesses that information other than dropdown selection and on the icon page itself.)

With screenreader usage, icon keywords are read out in text, so for example, yours says "pretty kitty (Cloud)". I'm guessing Cloud is the description on that one.
Mellow, cat-respectful Labrador icon used because he was another lovebug being with incredibly soft fur and a tendency to flop.

I am glad for your gain and sorry for your loss.

They do! And most eloquent ears. They say things all the time.
I am glad for your gain and sorry for your loss.
Thank you.

I have been telling them of all their well-wishes!

I also am not used to time, but it doesn't seem like time is willing to make allowances on that basis, sigh.

They're wonderful.

Pffft. Compromises are supposed to be mutual, otherwise they call them something else.

I have conveyed your message in the form of petting!

On their behalf, I thank you!

And, yes. Time is confusing. Honor to her.

Thank you. It does feel like a present to us, always.

Colour me surprised at, well, Autolycus's colour. I think this is the first photo that's registered on me where he's in direct sunlight and his colour shows through strongly.

Thank you!

He changed over the last year. He was a black cat for most of his life. Then he went through a kind of Burmese phase and now he is sometimes called "Havana Brown" because it sounds like a pulp-novel private eye. He has Siamese points, black on seal-brown. They haven't altered.

"Havana Brown" is really sending me.

We tell them constantly and it never becomes less true.

Thank you! What an apropos icon.

I should make a Boots icon since he has been NowOurCat for more than two years! :)

You should! Wow, more time.
