For reasons of stamina and scheduling this year, what spatch and I did with the long weekend of President's Day was observe the Black Kitten 'Thon 2023, in which we did not program ourselves a twenty-four-hour marathon of science fiction film so much as watch a selection of shorts and features which appealed to us at whatever hours we happened to be awake and in the house. Last night we cooked a tomato sauce from scratch with garlic sausage and prosciutto tortellini; tonight we had sandwiches and leftovers. Autolycus and Hestia presided throughout. It is a good tradition, in whatever form it takes, to keep.

Ooh, how were the tortellini?

I roasted a chicken and made stock so we can have chicken soup tomorrow when it's cold and rainy, and kept a bunch of kids fed all weekend, and slept far more than I meant to sleep. I am very glad you observed this tradition with each other without exposing yourselves to other people's germs in a movie theatre, even if it's kind of a bummer we're still all having to do that.
