Nothing missing in the math but division on the path

It was sub-optimal for everything else about yesterday that the plumbers arrived without warning at their usual crack of business hours, but at least we are now under the impression that they have finished their work and will not be returning to deprive us of further sleep; our basement is not flooding, our washing machine is hooked up again, our pantry has the appropriate amount of walls and cabinets and paint. I am exhausted to the point where I have to remind myself that I have not suffered brain damage just because I can't write easily about the one movie I have managed to watch all week. [personal profile] asakiyume linked me Natalie Merchant's "Come On, Aphrodite (feat. Abena Koomson-Davis)," which does such a good job of recalling Sappho without directly setting any one fragment that I hear the exhortation of the title in Aeolic Greek: δεῦρύ με. I don't know why in almost twenty years it has been so difficult for me to accept that pain is tiring.

So glad the plumbing ordeal is 🍀over🍀 (the protective clovers are to ward bad luck from making that claim).

I really loved how that song, along with everything else it was, seemed like a very real prayer. Writing the deities of the Polity, I am very pleased to see deities weasel their way into continued existence. We don't want to put them down, and they are happy to not be put down.

Making a commitment to write more regularly has helped. The current story is ostensibly more about the problems with Abstractions than with deities, but because they're irrepressible, they nudge their way in.

What I'm trying to braid in right now is (1) the continued presence of the people known as Mudhuggers, (2) healing for ghosts (3) complicated political machinations motivated by ... oh, all the usual. Greed, self-interest (but also need), revenge (but also justice).

You remind me quite frequently pain is tiring when it's about my pain, so I 'spect it's time to *klunklunklunklunk* shake the jar again.

Hinterlassene Werke Des Generals Carl Von Clausewitz? Where did he get this and where are the other nine volumes? It's a Mason jar!

I feel strongly that if some plumbers and other people who have to come to your house and racket around would form a few little companies where nobody arrives before noon unless there is an emergency; or even just have a few technicians on tap who don't start work until noon or even, dare I suggest it, TWO P.M., there would be a lot of very grateful customers beating down their voicemail doors.

I'm sorry about the pain, m'dear, and you're quite right that it's easy to forget that it's tiring. I don't know why either!

But congrats on having functioning plumbing again! That's a huge plus. All that remains is the plumber's bill. *Imperial March starts up in the background* Worth it, whatever.

The mentions of a movie and a Greek goddess remind me of a film I recently saw and meant to recommend to you: A Wounded Fawn. It's an indie horror movie about a serial killer who, due to some unusually poor life choices, catches the attention of the Erinyes. It's extremely odd, with a mix of mental illness and divinity that left me changing my mind about which I was witnessing several different times.

Torrential sources. Which means that it wouldn't be hard to pass on, if you couldn't find it else-wise.

Uff da, this is so much, but I'm glad it isn't the "plumbing still not done" flavor of so much.

Ooh, thanks for passing on the Natalie Merchant link. I'm sorry about the pain and the exhaustion. <3
