I think of him often as I look out to the sea and I live by the coast
The plumbers returned at a quarter of eight in the morning and are still in our kitchen, meaning the kitchen has been off-limits since quarter of eight in the morning. I have a headache the size of one of the smaller moons of Jupiter and didn't sleep again until the early afternoon when Autolycus curled up with me for a couple of hours, during which time I dreamed of re-encountering someone I had last run into a few nights ago and whom I had been surprised to be recognized by then, especially since in my waking life there was no one in my cohort of grad school with that blond faun's face and glasses and name, not to mention a job at a library which doesn't exist. The first time we had merely talked across the circulation desk; this time he was getting off work and we kept up the conversation all the way out into the night, catching up on years that didn't happen. He seemed to be living and working in a layer of time more than a decade behind mine, sharing an apartment in an old industrial building still echoing with factory sounds. He wanted to talk to me about stars above the Aswan Dam. I have recurring landscapes in dreams, but not normally recurring figures, and if I have sequel dreams it is usually within the same night of being woken from the original. It was almost certainly the nicest thing that has happened so far today.

Mostly about the differences in position of fixed stars. Awake, it makes me think of Sirius and the flooding of the Nile, but I don't remember we discussed it in the dream. He had done a painting of an ancient Egyptian night sky which I liked very much, though. It was thick oils or acrylics; the stars were built up off the canvas; the faint traceries between them were not constellations but gods.

I'm sorry about the headache and having to deal with plumbers in your space; I hope both abate quickly.
Meanwhile, this might amuse you: back in middle school, after we learned about the Aswan Dam, the new "cuss word" became "Aswan Dam you!!!" The teachers let it slide. (God knows, they had...other fish to fry lolol. This was in Texas in the mid-'90s.)

Thank you! Man, I miss being able to run into people in libraries.

We rapidly closing in on the end of the work day and we still have plumbers. I do not want plumbers. I have been masked since before I properly woke up and I am over it!

Honestly, that's adorable.

Thank you! They actually did make me feel better. Probably so did the sleep, but the dream was a good way to spend it.

Thank you! I never feel I can take credit as such for my dreams.

Is "a quarter of eight" a quarter to eight (7.45 am or pm) or a quarter past eight (8.15 am or pm)?

I wish I could paint!

Quarter to. I hear them used interchangeably.

Thank you! It's been discombobulated, but I did sleep more.

Congratulations on the return of your plumbers, and at such an early hour.

Thank you! I default to nightmares, honestly, so appreciate the alternatives when they appear.

Besides, even in shallow water, it wouldn't work.
