Lower him down with a golden chain

I have had a worsening headache all day to the point where I actually wound up lying with my hat over my eyes in a lighted room, but I deeply appreciate being informed by [personal profile] ashlyme of the existence of Plinth's Music for Smalls Lighthouse (2013) and by [personal profile] spatch of Gavin Bryars' The Sinking of the Titanic (1990), the liner notes for the latter incidentally being how I learned that Marconi believed in residual haunting. If my head is going to feel like crush depth, I can at least have a suitable soundtrack.

I'm sorry, but I've now got your subject line's song in my head, as heard on our local public radio station's folk program as a young teenager. "On ev-e-ry inch we'll carve his name!"

Music for Smalls Lighthouse has great associated art, too!

Somehow when I saw the title, I thought "Snails" rather than "Smalls," and I have to say I really like the idea of a snails' lighthouse.

This is completely unrelated to your actual post, but a. the icon and b. I feel like you would appreciate this: I fell asleep musing about the effect of whole "kaiju attacking humanity" thing on pop culture post-2013 in the world of Pacific Rim (why? good question!) and woke up this morning desperately wanting to hear the Mountain Goats' first post-kaiju album. I wouldn't trust "music to cope with the destruction of San Francisco by a giant sea monster" to any other band.

I'm not surprised about Marconi. It's why I prefer analogue radio; you don't know what you could find turning the dial between stations.

Let me know what you make of Plinth. *Hugs, many of them*

As someone who's been fighting chronic headaches of the "worsening all day" kind for months now, you have my deep sympathies. I'm glad you found a good soundtrack.
