Oh, his face is so full of commentary! I don't know if the color of his eyes in the photo is true, but both our little black cats have that same in-between color of eyes as well. We kept wondering if it would change more, but it has not.

It is brighter in real life, but otherwise accurately represented. We call it lime-gold. Hestia's eyes are true gold. I think it is wonderful about your black cats.

They were about ten weeks old when the vet sent them home to us (he had rescued them from his brother-in-law's farm, where their barn-cat mother wasn't well and couldn't look after them), and their eyes were a very muddy blueish yellow. That went over to the strange green and gold -- I do like "lime-gold" -- and just stayed there.
Hestia must be a very striking cat with pure gold eyes. We have mostly had other black cats with pale yellow eyes, very right and proper but not quite arresting.
I was brought up to light the different candles for different ideas, not always the same ones or in the same order each year, but there is a general pool. This year we started at my parents' house with the children and at our own with love.
