Next I crawl into old sides, shadows of the truth
The moon looks like a waxing crescent in the shadow of the earth: brilliant as winter in a mantle of copper smoke, the new moon with the blood moon in its arms. The Pleiades stand almost directly over it. The stars have sprung out in color against the black ice of the sky. I would love to watch the seas of the moon flooding with the eclipse through the telescope, but it's so drowning and beautiful even by the naked eye. The mythical point of all such celestial events is that the light returns, which I believe astronomically: the laws of gravitation preclude that a planet should arrest its course, even a tidally locked satellite freeze in perpetual shade. Our neighbors may hate us forever if I blow the conch just to be sure.

You're welcome! I was awake for reasons of pain, which it would have been preferable not to have been, but then I would have missed the eclipse, and I was glad not to have.
