The hammer beats the drum, isn't that right?
Peter Straub has died. CaitlĂn R. Kiernan writes well about him. I did not know him more than professionally, but he was a pleasure to share panels, readings, podcasts with. My copy of Ghost Story (1979) is in storage, like the rest of my library. I read it for the first time waiting to fly standby to Gainesville.
asakiyume has read (and liked!) As the Tide Came Flowing In. It definitely feels like a present to receive such an attentive and appreciative review.
According to this afternoon's X-rays, my back looks unremarkable, so it could stop hurting any time now, thanks. I have been referred for PT.
Three more monarchs have emerged over the course of today, bringing us to (my niece has been naming all of them) Stripey the Ninth.

Thank you!
Yay Stripey the Ninth!
Stripeys the Seventh and Eighth were released in the late afternoon by the twins who are best friends with my niece. I had started to have nightmares about this round of butterflies safely metamorphosing, so it has been very reassuring to see them flop out of their chrysalides and then steadily fill out their wings.

I hope it sinks back into actual unremarkability very soon. Backs are so very connected to everything, it's very vexing when they are displeased.

Thank you. It is true that I would greatly have preferred not to have this opportunity to discuss it.
*hugs*

He was also an excellent editor, responsible for an important issue of Conjunctions in 2000 and three anthologies I can recomend, the latter two part of the Library of America.
