And we stayed as we were, which was hell
I am lying under a cat and sneezing. I have an earache and a fever. I am sick. I home-tested negative and so have the likeliest vectors, so realistically I have an ordinary spring crud, but at this point an ordinary spring crud is sort of the final snapped straw of my stamina, so I resent it almost as much. The one thing I have done all day that felt useful was get out of the house before sunset and photograph some flowering trees. They were encouragingly energetic.

[edit] My godchild sent me a care package of things to eat when sick, like kippers and oranges and fortified rice cakes and Jell-O and the nostalgic kind of chicken soup in a box. It was incredibly kind and the rice cakes taste surprisingly good.

I'm sure that can only help, but for several reasons this feels much more like illness than allergies to me.

Thank you! The care package even includes fruit juices.
(And the photo is beautiful. And cat healing is best healing)

I regret to mention it, but did your likely vectors test negative on PCR, or only rapid tests? The current variants have some tendency to not show positive until several days after symptom onset, or not at all. (e.g., four people in a household all get sick at once. Three test positive. One doesn't, repeatedly, despite having the same symptoms and same exposure so almost certainly the same bug.)
Somerville has free PCR tests for residents, Tuesdays and Thursdays, if that helps.

Only rapid so far as I know, but if this is COVID, then a potential total of seven cases are either all evading multiple rounds of antigen testing or totally asymptomatic. I've been sick since the weekend. I just got around to complaining about it now. As my chances of dying of COVID have been consistently estimated to be high even with the so-called lower-risk variants, I am going to hope the tests are accurate and it's just spring crud. [edit] I didn't know about the free PCRs at the City Hall Annex and I appreciate the information. [edit edit] I PCR negative. So it's probably crud.

You can tell them that the everything rice cakes taste very good on either side of ham. My dinner plan is the soup.

(I will tell them. Those are one of their extremely favorite foods. You could layer peanut butter and seaweed sheets on them, if you were 12.)

(When I was twelve, I would probably have layered them with baloney.)
