I was irresistibly reminded of a museum diorama by this picture my father took of me and my niece, making charoses. selkie captioned it "Traditional Foodways of Ashkenaz."



My niece helped me put the Seder plate together and read the English of the Four Questions. We walked around the reservoir with rushthatspeaks. My mother led the Seder from her father's five-page Haggadah, 1993 edition. My brother purloined the afikomen. spatch napped on the futon. We opened the door to the stranger, as more than ever it is important to do. All who are hungry, all who are thirsty, all who are not free. Next year in health.

Your post, and the healing angel's significant other preparing a seder meal, got me thinking how Passover centers people as both inheritors/beloved and as refugees, and how perfect that is. That's how it is to be human--to be both those, in turn and sometimes simultaneously.
