I do not think of myself as Ukrainian any more than I think of myself as Russian or Polish or Welsh or Irish or English: I was born into the Diaspora, into America, and the rest is inheritance, but one of my great-grandmothers came from Vishnevets and if I knew where in Bessarabia and Podolia my other great-grandmother and one of my great-grandfathers had started from, I might well find their shtetls or cities on the map under attack.![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
