There were berries and cherries as thick as might be seen
My street has lost its cherry trees! Not the weeping cherry, but the pair of regular cherries in the next yard over that I documented so joyously last spring and the spring before. I have no idea what happened. The ground is blackened and broken and bare; all the little undergrowth that used to cluster around the lichen-saddled trunks and branches is gone. There was a dispirited clump of something that might be the daffodils when it's not climate-raddled late winter and some weeds left behind chain-link, like tame brownfields. I loved those trees. I had been looking forward to their blossoms this spring. It had become a ritual and something that made me feel better about the world. I will still visit their weeping neighbor, but damn. If it had to do with property flipping, may all their investments fail.
I have been out of commission for most of this week thanks to pain and other stressors, so have some links.

spatch and I are in the process of programming ourselves this weekend's Black Cat 'Thon 2022. We have bailed on numerous portions of the official 'Thon in the past. It should be a good time.

These are hilarious! I would genuinely use the "Happy day of the year!" one.

It's useful all year round!
I also like "You're the snail's poise."

I am sorry about your beautiful cherry trees. But I look forward to hearing about this year's Black Cat 'Thon.

I don't think trees should be taken down for anything but danger or illness and the cherries didn't look like either.

And the loss of the cherry trees is a shame. But I, too, look forward to the Black Cat recap!

It has a monster! It would have been eligible! Next year.

They were an important part of the street!

I'd seen the AI-generated Valentine's day cards; they're very fun (and must have trained on a fun database).
That cabbage truly is majestic. You can play at being shrunk to mouse size beside it.
Have fun at the 'thon!

I don't think cities can afford to lose trees, especially not grown ones. I hope there is at least replanting on the street, but it will not be the same.

I would unironically buy several of them if I ever saw them in a bookstore, if I am ever again in a bookstore in my life.

I like that image. I hope whoever grew it had small children who did.
Have fun at the 'thon!
Thank you!

Thank you. I know they were not mine in any realistic sense, but it's still a loss.
