Speak of the Devil and she will appear
So this week continued to be this week, and then I had a lovely afternoon and evening with
rushthatspeaks during which he showed me the pop-cultural deep dive of John Walsh's "What the Internet Did to Garfield," and then I got home to some non-fatal news that sent the rest of my night right off the rails, and as of this afternoon the dark-blue-enameled eye-of-Horus pin that I got from the MFA's Ancient Nubia Now in 2020 has gone missing, which upsets me both because it is emotionally important to me and because this just doesn't feel like a good week to lose a protective amulet, you know? I don't even believe I can replace it after all this time. Tell me something nice.

The downy woodpeckers that visit my birdfeeder have been soothing to watch.

Yesterday I woke to the sound of J singing at the top of his cheerful lungs in the shower. That was a pretty darling moment.

slightly saucy mermaid limerick
A master of song and of dance.
She flirted with sailors,
And none of them failed her,
Taking off all of their pants.
...sorry, I'm apparently incapable of giving you good mermaid poetry right now. *facepalm*
Re: slightly saucy mermaid limerick
I don't know about you, but I regret nothing.

I am unironically hoping it wins a Hugo, although I don't know if anyone has nominated it in the appropriate critical category.

I think it might have been the last exhibition I saw at the MFA. I still want to read Pauline Hopkins' Of One Blood (1902).

I have spare copies of The Clapper, if it would amuse you to see my first attempt at editing a thing?

Hell, yes!

That is excellent.

I had a very pleasant morning at a Canadian friend's home watching live winter Olympics, which is apparently the custom of their people. Ate a bit of food, talked a bit of talk, watched sports other than ice hockey, generally had a nice time together.

That does sound nice! I have been watching (mostly taped) the figure skating with my mother, which is also our custom.

I hope your amulet comes back to you.

That is extremely nice, and I am glad to hear it. Long may it continue, more real every time.
I hope your amulet comes back to you.
Thank you.
