Wrote some dubious keyboard parts

After a shattering thunderclap this morning produced storms on and off for the rest of the day, I decided to give the rain hat a try when I left the house in the evening.

I guess "plague fisher" is an aesthetic now. Have some links.

1. As I told [personal profile] ashlyme, I want to plan an art heist: Paul Nash, Harbour and Room (1932–36).

2. Carolyn Shoemaker has died, leaving comets in her memory. "We would all be very uncomfortable."

3. Courtesy of [personal profile] nineweaving: Saintmaking (2021), a short documentary by Marco Alessi on Derek Jarman and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. There is a nice accompanying interview. It is dedicated to the memory of Sister Jack Off All Trade Master of Nuns, whom everyone agrees was no saint. "Jarman wasn't a saint, either, that's the thing as well."

4. Courtesy of [personal profile] muccamukk: a petition from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees in light of a likely Hollywood-wide strike. From last week, but still relevant, some background.

5. An announcement from Readercon: the next convention has been postponed until 2023.

Outside of the rain hat and combination dinner from Dakzen and Mortadella Head, just about every element of my day has been enervating beyond belief. Tomorrow I have to stop yet another set of my medications in preparation for yet another test. Forsan et haec olim, right.

I'll never forget the immense, ferocious tenderness of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at Mathew Shepard's inurnment. They were like an immoveable wall against the protesting jerkwad idiots. You could have broken high tide over them and the worst they'd have done is adjusted a mantilla or two. They had lovely lace-dripping evening fans and they fluttered them to block the hate signs. I got a picture with some of them because they came over when I *mumble mumble shoving match hey this is a funeral, fuckwad.*

Oh, it broke my heart. It was shudderingly sad and dignified and people had come to make trouble.

You know I try, in the infirmity of my age, not to draw a fight. But there are some fights I have been privileged to pick.
