The dumpster fire got bigger
And last night was consumed entirely by a medical emergency with Hestia, which as of this afternoon and an unnecessary garnish of shenanigans cautiously seems to be resolving, although you should picture that last sentence hedged around with all the apotropaic dicks in the world. I just want someone in this household to catch a break. Or sleep. Could be the same thing. Have some links.
1. Regardless of what it says about the evolution of classical poetry, I love not just the text of this poem but its status as a pop-cultural meme. I rather hope someone does set it to punk music.
2. Black Angel (1946) is one of the films for which I never expected anyone to write fanfiction other than technically me, but
konstantya does and it's great.
3. I was going to link this interview with Judith Butler, but it turns out that in the time since I originally read it, the Guardian censored Butler's remarks on TERFs. Thanks to
rydra_wong for the heads-up and the general internet for its archival instincts.
4. I feel like these lists of names should talk to one another. The fact that one was generated by a neural network and the other by a bunch of human friends makes surprisingly little difference. I can't decide if I am more entertained by Van Buren Gremlin or Proper Condom Richmond. Both remind me of the time one of my friend groups in college theorized the existence of the fictional bluesman Blind Lychee Fillmore.
5. Courtesy of a friend who is not on DW: quality cat content indeed.
I sort of have two secret projects now.

I have two secret meetings tomorrow, neither of which is as cool as your secret projects.

I'd like that. Or even just unsecret project, of which I would like to be working on several.
To wit, tomorrow is Thursday, which means telling me things you hate by Friday, how is it Thursday.
It isn't Thursday yet, damn it!

May they be . . . innocuous?

I have to get up for a Zoom in the Alte Medina, and I am tempted to screenshot here my calendar. This bitch is Thursday'd.
Edit: Fuck Thursday and most of its works
Friday is actually my anniversary with rushthatspeaks, how do you feel about me screaming at you on Saturday?
Happy anniversary! How lovely! We just have to make sure there is only screaming about secret projects! Saturday's fine!

Your two "list of names" links both go to the same source, btw. (I think I know what the other one is because I'm pretty sure I've reblogged it before, though.)

Thank you. She is the cat who has traditionally not had health problems and we all feel she doesn't need to start now.

Fixed! Sorry about that.

Also, that wasn't the post I was thinking of! The one I was thinking of was this one.

I take it that you already knew about Millennial Puritan Names?

As soon as I read that poem, "I Don't Care" by the Ramones started playing in my head.
Yay secret projects!

Knock wood, she seems to be doing well! Her bloodwork was described by the vet the next day as "boring."
As soon as I read that poem, "I Don't Care" by the Ramones started playing in my head.
I really want someone to get on it!
Yay secret projects!
Thank you!

Thank you!
That first link, the poem that's been inscribed on jewels and graffito'd various places--I love it. What a great story.
The entire phenomenon makes me happy.

Thank you. The cat is sleeping nearby as we speak and she's beautiful.

No my granddaughter is back at school, maybe I'll get back to a German poem that I was trying to get into English with the right stresses....
I try it at intervals, come back to it months later and have another go, rinse, repeat.

I hope you find a version which satisfies you.

Have a good anniversaire! And sleep!
( is now wondering whether the second sekrit prajekt involves cat photos/inscriptions )
ETA: Classical pop music! I agree that I rather hope someone does set it to punk music.
I know we now know she's a bit of a trash fire of a person, but I now really want to hear Amanda Palmer screaming it over an angry piano accompaniment. Maybe Lin Manuel Miranda or somebody could rap it, instead.
(or, y'know, Greek punk band/Greek K-pop tribute band.)

Greek punk would be perfect. I refuse to believe it doesn't still exist.
