Subliminal curse, shaking me, shaking you

[personal profile] spatch, listening to me watch TV: "Lord grant me the confidence of the person who says 'But Lieutenant Columbo, how could I have POSSIBLY killed him when I've had this airtight alibi ALL ALONG.'"

(I made it through this afternoon's choral recording session, coughed a lot and ate dinner, and then collapsed on the couch. I consider it extremely unfair that after a week of hardly sleeping, I get to lose an hour out of the clock tonight. Have some links.)

1. Courtesy of a friend who is not on DW and of [personal profile] selkie whom I incautiously sent the first link to: nineteenth-century walking canes that are profoundly, impressively not safe for work.

2. Nick Cornwell on the creative partnership of his parents, one of whom was John le Carré.

3. I like this poem very much: Judith Willson, "The Human Voice from a Distance."

*zooms in on cane photo to maximum extent* Hmm, yes, I can tell that the clitoris is there, but it clearly was not the important part, in the sculptor's view.
