Once I had a color as red as a rose

My poem "The Bargain" has been accepted by Not One of Us; it features pomegranates and I wrote it last night out of a difficult day. Today has not been of the greatest, either, but at least [personal profile] spatch and I got out for a walk and I took photos before the light ran out.

The motive force of rhetoric aside, wearing a mask in a pandemic isn't heroic, it's the damn minimum of humanity, but that hasn't stopped some of us from looking like statues about it.

This house, on the other hand, looked distressingly like a metaphor.

Eastward over the train tracks from the Walnut Street Bridge.

A very bewildered tree on Gilman Street.

The McGrath Highway Bridge was built in 1926 and refurbished in 1983 and it feels like cheating to take pictures of it because it doesn't have a bad angle.

Sheeler and Strand, eat your hearts out.

I do not tire of steel riveted against the sky.

Nor of the people who explore them with me.

The last bands of sunset.

Frames of a train.

I loved how the sky curled over the street.

I didn't mark when Sarma acquired its cephalopod, but I approve.

This time last year was a blizzard and a medical emergency, but I really believe this time this year is even more stressful, and it should not be the case.

Oh, I approve of the cephalopod. It looks a little too chilled for "Unleash the Kraken!"

Trains of steel and trains of light, a friendly octopus, the limbs of a bridge, a portrait of Spatch, and good news about your poem! A good December bouquet.

It is deeply, deeply wrong. :(

Cephalopod!

Congratulations!

Those are good photos. I love the one of the distressed house; that's amazing. Also the squid! Thanks for sharing.

*hugs* for the rest.

'If it hadn't a' been for flash company, I'd a' never a' been so poor'

'wearing a mask in a pandemic isn't heroic, it's the damn minimum of humanity'

This! I have real psychological issues with the things but I do it, because other people.

Well done on the acceptance - it's well-deserved!

That house is not wearing good motley. It's scratching at my ideas-lobe though.

Damn, that bridge. Damn, that sky. That cephalopod, damn. It looks like an amiable sort.

*Ooh. I look very much forward. *

I'll let you know. I hope it's healthier on the inside. *mutters stuff about "tatterdemalion" and "artist's colony"*

*Well, we deserve fancy too.*

Yes, you do, and I hope it's a fab meal. I'll look forward to reading about it; you write exquisitely about food.
