Inside the dream, a case for wanting

I am having a miserable night on the mental weather/physical embodiment front, so I am recording for posterity that my godchild called me earlier this evening in order to tell me that I was their happy person to talk to and they wanted to tell me while they were thinking of it instead of risking forgetting it by the time of our next video chat. And that was really cool.

I'm really sorry about your miserable night, and really glad that your godchild called you earlier. Children are marvelous for that because they say those things unselfconsciously, with no ulterior cheer-you-up motive, but simply because it's true.

I know children can manipulate because I have been present for the old chestnut but the other parent said it was okay! but in this case, I think you're right, and it makes me really happy.
