*shivers* Oh my wow, I had such a visceral memory of reading that. Raised as a fundie as I was I had no conception whatsoever of pre-Christian anything until I read the Dark is Rising cycle. I don't remember the plots anymore but I still remember the different minds-paths it showed me.
