My da's still disturbed that Sweeney Todd exists, much less that my mother and one of her friends took himself, myself, and the friend's daughter (both of us being about tennish) to a college production of the same.
I believe my parents attended the original Broadway production for some special occasion—an anniversary, or a birthday—with no idea of what was involved in the story, and walked out traumatized some hours later. But not so traumatized, fortunately, that I didn't hear the musical when I was growing up.
