I had a Zoom call this evening after work and that wiped me out for the rest of the night, but I did manage to get out of the house before the light totally faded from the sky. The cherry blossoms have done their mono no aware thing and are mostly a pale confetti in the gutters following the windy rain of yesterday.



The weeping cherry in the next yard over, however, has leapt like a fountain into bloom.



This assessment by Yesterday's Print is rather on point. That said, I am charmed not at all ironically by all aspects of this sentence.

Thank you. I'm enjoying having cherry blossoms to visit.

There's still snow on the ground here, and a few lilacs on south-facing sidewalks were just attempting red leaf tips when the snowstorm came.

That's poignant!

They'll be fine, being accustomed to such japes by the weather, but it will be a while before we have any flowering anything.

I've just been informed we're supposed to have snow at the end of this week, which I suppose is in keeping with New England's wait-five-minutes weather ethos, but I still don't want it to wipe out all the flowers! At this point I think they are kind of like my emotional support spring.
