I watch TV to fall asleep and I can't fly in my dreams
I slept badly last night. The sun came up. There was construction at an unreasonable hour of the morning. I have been having unpleasantly vivid nightmares with plots like horror movies I don't actually watch: a box full of ashes clicking like a Geiger counter in the presence of a newborn child, fighting my way down the stairs of a hotel filled with the snapping-mouthed dead (in company of the writer of a nonexistent off-Broadway musical, which is the part that feels like my usual dreams). The noirish line "A loser is interesting. A loser who loses altogether is an awful thing." Various scenes of abjection.
On the other hand,
selkie just notified me that one of the actor-producers of The Rusalka (2018) discovered my review and liked it. I'm delighted. It means I saw what was there to be seen. I'm still not used to this whole feedback-from-living-filmmakers thing.

Aw, cool! And it's scary. Nice also mostly, but also scary. There are real people at the end of this thing?

I'm just glad so far it's happened with contemporary movies I like!
(I don't think I've seen that icon before. It's good.)

The nightmares, on the other hand, need to be exorcised.

Thank you! It arrived at a good time: I was/am feeling especially despairing about kind of everything.

They're really vivid. I wish I were writing fiction.

I'm sorry about the nightmares, but that is an excellent noirish line.

Seriously, I feel like I should invent a movie to put it in.

Oh, interesting. I can't think of anything in the room that I could hear over the fan, which usually just makes its normal hum, but there would certainly have been all sorts of staccato noises from the construction—it's what eventually woke me.
Once I dreamt that I was a tree, burning in a bushfire, and found in the morning that my sleeping bag had a hole scorched in it by a tipped-over mosquito coil.
I have to say that's a great transmutation.
