oldcharliebrown has just informed me that two of my stories, "White Shadows" (Say . . . have you heard this one?) and "On the Blindside" (Flytrap #4) have received honorable mentions in Gardner Dozois' The Year's Best Science Fiction: Twenty-Third Annual Collection. That was unexpected.

Earlier tonight, I watched an episode of Babylon 5 and an episode of Princess Tutu with gaudior, weirdquark, lignota, navrins, syonakeleste, and Thrud. I ate a pot noodle while fending off demon cats. That was lovely.

I have a story in my head, and it is all plot. This is unusual.

I'm out of adjectives. 'Night.

Which Tutu episode?

The first episode in the second season, in which it becomes clear that some things have, in fact, gone terribly wrong. It was good.

Fakir's misdirection, actually, was my favorite part. Three episodes ago, I couldn't have cared less about him: it wasn't that I disliked him, I just didn't find him a particularly compelling character. Now it's quite possible he's my favorite. I love when things like that happen.

Yes. And I was right about the relationship between ravens and crows.

I'm also trying to remember if Drosselmeyer always asked the characters to tell him what happens next (and I've only just noticed), or if this is a new development. I remember that Kraehe promised to tell him the best story he'd ever hear; perhaps he's holding the rest of the cast to the same standard now.

Drosselmeyer was doing it all along: in the first episode, he asks Duck what she'll do, just before he turns her into Tutu. But he seems to pick up the apostrophizing interactions the second season -- possibly because of the two-part structure from the original broadcast, with him closing the first half.
