Armed with cigarettes and innocence, you went down, down, down
My poem "Acceptable Documentation," originally published in Sycorax Journal #1, has been nominated for the 2019 Rhysling Award. I am really pleased.
I dreamed about what I don't quite want to characterize as a haunted museum, presided over by a false and baleful moon. It had a dry chalky light. I remember the sea rolling in over stone steps, but it feels too pat to say the moon had brought it. Awake, I'm just flatteningly tired; I am trying to do very little with my afternoon. It's raining outside in one of those soft grey wandering ways. There's still snow under the bushes. Couple of links.

3. I strongly suspect that I don't really want to watch all seven seasons of Once Upon a Time for the sake of this gifset, but it's surprisingly tempting.

I LOVE that Frankenstein comic, and I too have been very tempted by many a Once Upon a Time gifset. Never quite tempted enough to commit to watching so much as an episode, but the show has so many images and quotes that seem extremely appealing.

Thank you! You have mentioned it, and I am so glad.

I wish it were a book series. I am much more willing to winnow written fiction for the good parts than I am to do the same for long-form TV. I marathoned both seasons of Iron Fist last month, but I think being immobile with a fever had a lot to do with that. (And the fact that it was only two seasons. I think if I did that with seven, I'd hurt myself.)

SAME. For some reason, I have such difficulty keeping my attention on visual media. I can barely manage a half hour episode at a time. It's a bit easier for me with movies, since being in a dark silent theater cuts down on potential distractions, but in general I have a great deal of trouble immersing myself in visual media in a way that I find very easy to do with writing.

It is definitely easier for me to be immersed in print than in a moving image. (I have never lost track of my surroundings watching a movie.) I don't think it's an issue of distraction/attention, but I didn't watch many movies for years because there were so many other things I could do with that time, like read an entire book. Now that I watch them, I write about them. Go know.
