I'm still spinning like before
This year I have learned that after a six-week hell-cold I really cannot expect to take one-off recovery days in between intense expenditures of energy and just bounce right back, especially when one of those recovery days was actually Christmas Eve. Today is at least not a holiday, but the most I've managed to do with it so far is eat some leftover fruitcake. On the other hand, I am not literally in bed as I type these words and I feel pretty good about that. (I'm on a couch and that makes all the difference.) Have some links.
1. I had not previously seen and adore this one-off answer to a reader question: "Lackadaisy Expedition." It's not that I don't enjoy both Viktor and Mordecai as cats, but they really make for some damn fine humans.
2. I was reading this article on the internet and the year of Mark Zuckerberg, not actually disagreeing with it but being reminded of other laments for the lost and less monetized internet which I too miss, and then the author pulled out Augustus. "Well, nothing brings people together like an empire."
3. Courtesy of
handful_ofdust: nine sitting positions of Jeremy Brett. Granada Holmes, of course. I feel like the middle gif may have been one of my life goals since childhood.
Even so, my godchild takes selfies of themselves with me. From the Pollo Rico in Wheaton before I fled for yesterday's train, courtesy of an eight-year-old purple-and-pink-haired hockey player with the reading comprehension of an AP student and a build like one of those anime characters who are ninety percent leg, not that you can tell from this angle:

That's great, at least in terms of your teaching. I believe that Zuckerberg did not absorb the appropriate history.
Anyway, if there's one well-worn trope about empires, it is that they always, inevitably fall.
It's what they're famous for!

--She's adorable. I'll take a look at the links too (actually first I'm going back to the entry you had earlier that I haven't read yet about Indecent)

I think so! For future reference, their pronouns really are neutral: Noel is at this point a definitely asserted they.

Enjoy in whatever order!

(And thanks for letting me know)

Well, I have used female pronouns for them in the past, and some people use neutral pronouns for third parties on the internet for anonymity reasons. It just happens that these are neutral pronouns as a marked category. Which you now know about, so we're fine!

I was dead tired and really happy. I love my godchild and they seem to have become attached to me even though I don't see them more than every six months. (I send cards and books.) It's astonishing to me and I'm really glad of it.

Thank you! I will tell the person who took it.

God. Yes.

It's an acute article. I just wasn't expecting the emperor.
