About how Babel fell and still echoes away
It is pouring like we live in a downspout.
spatch and I came home from our errands soaked much closer to the skin than seems reasonable for winter coats plus umbrella and the compostable pseudo-plastic that Cambridge now gives out in lieu of a plastic bag in bad weather did hold together long enough to get my newly purchased books home safe, but I would have appreciated it not already shredding by the time we walked back to the bus. I am sufficiently chilled that I am thinking seriously about a hot shower and bed. I haven't slept well the last few nights at all and this morning there was construction. I am also not thrilled that when Autolycus launched himself off my shoulder with all claws out for the landing, he landed on the short stack of my birthday books and DVDs. Things went flying. The disc at ground zero appears undamaged, but seriously, little cat, your destructive aspect was not what I needed right now.
On the other hand, because we had to be in Davis Square anyway we got dinner at Dakzen, where the khao soi and massaman curry were exactly the right warming foods for this rawboned weather, and earlier this evening I saw a movie I unexpectedly loved, which I will try very hard to write about if I get some sleep, and I don't actually have to go anywhere until tomorrow evening, when I have plans with
rushthatspeaks. I think I will drink some hot water and go back to re-reading Phyllis Ann Karr's The Idylls of the Queen (1982) and just breathe. Or go to bed. [edit] Definitely bed.
I like this Roman vampire comic. I had not seen the real-life discovery that inspired it.

I had no idea what it was when I started reading it, and I loved finding out.

You're welcome!
I read about the discovery at the time, and it straight away made me imagine fic about the community there and what had happened to them. I'm so glad someone picked up the idea and made it into such a beautiful strip.
I hadn't read about the discovery, so I came to the history the other way. I love those kinds of art.

You are now responsible in this lifetime for consuming my share of the massaman curry and the yellow curry and all the coconut- and cashew- curries. You can but live up to it one dinner at a time.

I take this duty seriously and will do my best to discharge it with occasional detours into mussel pancakes.
