We know just what we'll find, just this time
The small but dedicated audience at Porter Square Books included both people I hadn't seen in a long time and people I hadn't seen ever and both kinds bought books. Also included: Fox. Who did not buy a copy of Forget the Sleepless Shores, but seemed to enjoy the sound of the words in it. They did not shriek during the reading parts.
spatch took this picture of me with my stack of books on the local author table:

I am pleased.

It was fun and I was glad to do it. (And I hope it leads to more sales. I don't expect to be rich from this book, but I do want it to encourage the publisher to work with me again.)

Did you see this? https://www.criterion.com/current/posts/6044-new-independent-criterion-channel-to-launch-spring-2019 What do you think?

Thank you! It is my winter jacket. Some years I am still wearing my corduroy jacket this late in the season, but not with the last few days' drop into below-freezing temperatures and AUGH SNOW.
Did you see this?
I did! I have signed up for a subscription. I suspect it means that FilmStruck as we know it is dead, since Criterion was half of their programming, but Criterion really seems to have been startled (and screwed) by WarnerMedia's announcement, so if I have to pick someone to support, the online arthouse cinema is it.

Yeah, I really hope it takes off....starting from scratch sounds like it's going to be really difficult. :-/

An enormous kerflomp of very wet, very slushy snow yesterday and then a drier fall of flakes this afternoon. God knows what happens tomorrow. Iced locusts.

I know some very prominent filmmakers have been writing in support of FilmStruck, so it is my hope that if the revival of FilmStruck really falls through, they'll switch their allegiance to the Criterion streaming service. I bet Guillermo del Toro could pull a lot of subscribers.

Very happy about the crowd--that's wonderful.

Thank you! It was after the reading, so I was in exhausted but glowing mode.

A larger crowd would have been nice because a larger crowd is always nice, but it was Friday night after the first bad weather of the year; I was glad that people came out at all.
