You know I love your haymaker kisses

I am either still sick or sick again, I slept badly despite going to bed at midnight, and I am furiously concerned about tomorrow's election. Less about the people than the cheating. The disenfranchisement. The voter suppression. I am worried that millions of people will vote in the right direction—as they did before—and the structures will be so rigged it won't make a difference. And then I don't know how I will keep everyone I love alive.

In the meantime, since there is nothing to do but behave as though we have a future—

1. I will be reading next Friday at Porter Square Books. Come and hear me! It's kind of back-to-back with Saturday's event at Noir at the Bar PVD.

2. [personal profile] a_reasonable_man has written things worth reading about birthright citizenship.

3. If you want contemporary protest calypso, the Mighty Sparrow has you covered.

I am trying to breathe out slowly and evenly.

(I am so glad my mother didn't live to see this moment.)

The Mighty Sparrow is making my heart open up a little.
