So I have caught the first cold of the changing season and it immediately messed one of my ears right up, but I have a hot compress and a lot of orange juice and selkie just pointed me toward Cassandra Khaw saying wonderful things about my collection and that's done a lot to improve my afternoon. I am honored to be compared to Robert MacFarlane. Khaw's neo-Lovecraftian neo-noir Hammers on Bone (2016) is no slouch itself.

rydra_wong has been describing the latest political developments as a ghost garden of Watergate. I like this image and hope it produces the correct effect on the landscape.

I still haven't forgiven TCM for pulling Hotel Berlin (1945) out of the buffer when I was nine minutes into it, but I have just realized that I have once again in my life a couch I can lie on and watch movies, so my hot compress and I are going to do that.

I was not expecting it and I am really flattered. I mean it about Hammers on Bone, too. It has a great staccato prose rhythm and a sense of humor about how hard-boiled it is, until the horror outweighs the humor and the hard-boiling both.

Thank you. I just watched Lilly Turner (1933), which was definitely a melodrama rather than a movie I would recommend to anyone, but it is always worth seeing what the pre-Code era came up with.
