I heard earlier this evening that John McCain had died, but I am really sorry to read about Lindsay Kemp. I saw him in Sebastiane (1976) and Jubilee (1977) and The Wicker Man (1973). "One of his favourite mottoes was 'Seagulls are the souls of drowned sailors.'" I didn't even know.

That's all right; Jack Birkett was also awesome. He's a strong contender for my favorite Caliban in Jarman's The Tempest (1979). Who is he in The Bride?

I just saw that Neil Simon died! At an age I can't complain about, but I still want to rewatch The Odd Couple (1968).

That may actually be the first Neil Simon I ever saw. I still admire the horror of Elliot's off-off-Broadway Richard III. "I was an Elizabethan fruit fly! I was the Betty Boop of Stratford-on-Avon. I was putrid. Capital P, capital U, capital TRID."
