I will say that, four episodes from the end, we still don't know about the opening speaker.

I should confess that I'm also reacting to this out of Sondheim's Into the Woods. Although I'm not expecting Drosselmeyer to die, er, any more than he has already, I am always suspicious of stories where the storyteller is involved.

There is a curious paradox that no one can explain. Who understands the secret of the reaping of the grain? Who understands why spring is born out of winter's laboring pain?
