Sorry to butt in on the blithe dialogue here with my prosaic note, but I'm curious whether you or others in your Taaffe family have done any genealogy research. My husband's family name is Taff, and he's descended from Peter Taaffe, who came to America from Ireland together with his brother James in the mid-18th century. We have a full genealogy (a rather large book, in fact) from the point at which they arrived here, and we've learned lots about the Taaffes in Ireland, but we've never been able to connect the dots. Since your father is first generation in this country, perhaps his personal knowledge can help make the connection?
