It's called "Sundays and Cybele", from (I think) 1972, about an orphaned girl at a convent who the nuns dislike, in part because of her name - after a pagan goddess. She has a strange friendship with a man with some mental difficulties who the nuns think is her father. I guess my parents just liked the sound of it.
