God is a lusty tire fire

After an array of tests and disruptively early doctor's appointments, the official word on the mysterious pain that knocked most of my week off kilter is an apologetic shrug. The good news is that it does not then look like anything dire. The bad news is that I have no idea what it was (it felt very much like something there was no evidence for, so either I healed faster than expected or it wasn't that) or if it will return. Let's hope not.

Following the advice of [personal profile] rushthatspeaks and [personal profile] gaudior, I tried the Pokéworks in Davis Square for the first time and was rewarded with an absolutely enormous bowl of salmon and two kinds of seaweed over sushi rice with a wasabi aioli dressing and a pile of lotus chips, masago, and further seaweed on top. "More biomass for your buck," [personal profile] spatch pronounced approvingly before acquiring a bowl of his own.

Days late to National Poetry Month, I was very struck by this poem: Terisa Siagatonu, "Moana Means Home: A Contrapuntal."

I agree with all the people who are saying there should be a biopic of Gertrude Jeannette.

Someday when I can afford new books again, I will have to track down Laura Horak's Girls Will Be Boys: Cross-Dressed Women, Lesbians, and American Cinema, 1908–1934 (2016) for obvious research purposes.

This afternoon, as it rains, I think what I am going to do is sleep.

Oh, wow!

Yes, please!

I hope the mystery pain stays gone.

I love poke bowls; that sounds like an excellent one.

There should definitely be a biopic of Gertrude Jeannette.

...and top hat I'm wearing as I usher you into the cozy anteroom of "undiagnosed problems."

It's quite crowded, almost all women, and the company is sometimes kind and sometimes cranky.

I hope you leave ASAP, one way or the other.

If there is a Pokéworks near you, you can do the same and I highly recommend it.

There isn't one near me yet, but the Gelson's around the corner just introduced a build-your-own-poke-bowl bar. It's not as well-appointed as a full poke restaurant, but still good.

Any suggestions how to make it happen?

I don't, but it seems like this would be a fairly propitious climate for such a film.

I'm glad the pain sounds like it's gone and hope it stays gone.

I am sorry they haven't a clue, but hope the pain vanishes forever.

That place serves a mighty poke bowl.

Here's to mysterious pains staying the hell away.

I want to try Pokéworks! That sounds awesome! Also, the tall one is in the Boston area, so I'm going to recommend it to him.

PS: I really liked "Moana Means Home: A Contrapuntal." Beautiful.

Ava DuVernay’s probably got her plate full these days; Janelle Monae seems like she’s veering towards movie-making, but I think she tends to lean towards SF.
