(Actually CIA-backed? That does not traditionally produce good movies.) [personal profile] handful_ofdust has made it sound like essential viewing for Chastain's performance alone.

Well, the CIA definitely approved changes to the script and some of the research process for the film seems unethical, to say the least. Chastain is magnificent in the part, though. It was difficult for me to take my eyes off her on screen. Performances were good all round but I barely remember anyone being in that film but her.

Strange Days is wonderful. It's playing at the HFA next month and [personal profile] rushthatspeaks and I have plans; they've never seen it and I've seen it once on my computer. It has one of my favorite soundtracks in the sense of songs rather than score. (Juliette Lewis' PJ Harvey!)

Oh, exciting! Strange Days is such a perfect slice of the 90s and even beyond enjoying the plot and the sound and the filming choices, everyone in that film is so unutterably pretty. I first saw it on VHS tape. It was like someone had filmed my id and put it on screen.
