Love is a garden of thorns

To all you surreal botanists out there:

As many of you already know, the prestigious academic division of Two Cranes Press has recently announced its forthcoming publication of the first Field Guide to Surreal Botany. Do not miss out on this unique opportunity to have your discoveries—however discredited by popular science rags or disbelieved by laymen—recorded and illustrated for all the world to know, cherish, and occasionally extirpate. Payment may enable you to move those terraria out of your bedroom and somewhere less liable to lawsuit.

Best of luck!

When I was in high school, my career plan was to become a botanist. Then I discovered it involved work, most notably labs. If I can find some tiny bit of imagination--don't laugh, I'm an editor, not a writer, so imagination isn't my strong suit--maybe I can come up with a new species. Did you know there really is a plant called "lesser celery"?

Oh dear...

That's something I have to do.

Isingrass? Potted biograssy? Giant hogweed?

(Yes I know it exists -- it's still surreal.)

Thanks for spreading the word, Sonya!

And Maxx Raabe did a cover of "Tainted Love"? Where oh where did you find it? I've looked on iTunes, but it's only the more serious stuff, not the cover songs. You already pointed me toward "Oops, I Did It Again," "Around the World," "We Will Rock You" and "Blue", but I'd love to hear more.

Oh, thank you--I so love plants, and writing something like this about them is ideal.
