This film sounds utterly fascinating, not least because of the unsentimental, unglamorous violence you describe. I'll have to look it up.

It is not a very consoling film, which means there are ways in which it works much better for me than the more reassuring kind of propaganda. No one said this would be easy. That doesn't mean it can't—or shouldn't—be done.
