Conceptually, I really *like* the idea of a person looking over the landscape of their past and finding reasons for caring about the people, especially the significant people, who populate it. I like the notion of the whole city as a memory palace. It's too bad that the rapprochement has to be tied up in presumed womanly duties/roles etc. I can cheer for people taking responsibility for things they ought to, but bearing both parties' weight in a relationship isn't a responsibility anyone should have to accept.
