I'm not familiar with the details either -- I do know, though, that at other area schools they've had things like lots of faculty signing petitions for the university to divest from any company having to do with Israel, because of the Israel/Palestine situation. Which is not to say that the Israeli government is infallible or even right, but the same people who want to boycott Caterpillar for selling bulldozers to the Israeli army never seem to get equally riled up about the sort of countries that run people over with tanks for fun, and this makes people suspicious. It's like that web quiz that tells you what bloodthirsty military leader you are, or whatever -- they included Sharon, and had a whole long explanation of how they're not antisemitic, they just call 'em as they see 'em, and anyone who got offended was misreading them. I allow that there's quite possibly room in the world for that position, but I would have been more convinced that they held it if the only other possible results in the database weren't Hitler, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein.
