I had to put together som cabaret music (mostly of the modern dark - it's fiendishly difficult to find a lot of older music online) variety for a friend who was working on something set in Germany and France in the 30's; it was a fascinating time. The wrong one for someone like me to research, even lightly, in times like these. I listened to a cast recording of the musical a few times in the course of that project, but haven't seen it, except an excerpt from the opening number on a PBS special.
