To be smut, it must be utterly without redeeming social importance
I am under no illusions that X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) was a good movie. I didn't think it was at the time. But every time I am reminded it exists, I wish it had been better, because Liev Schreiber with retractile claws was great.

On the other hand, I now know that "retractile" is an actual word and a synonym of "retractable", which I've always used. Neat.

I remember all of the scenes with Schreiber in them very fondly!

It is indeed an actual word! Technically I think cats' claws are protractile because in the normal resting position they are retracted and unsheathe only at the contraction of muscles, but what the hell, I have been wanting retractile claws since childhood and I'm not going to change my wish list now.

+1. I think that may actually have been my original complaint about it. [edit: Yes. Now I just want to rewatch the opening and his scenes. Dammit.] He was perfect.
Though who knows, right? Ryan Reynolds eventually got to do Deadpool the way he was meant to be, so maybe a better version of Sabertooth can be resurrected, too. A lot of what I like to call the "skipped" X-Men are ending up in this new mutant TV series, apparently...
From your lips to God's ears!

As was the casting of Reynolds as Wade.
So I just pretend the beginning of the movie is the only thing that exists.
Also...unf. So pretty. They're all so pretty.

I went into it hopefully, too. My entire family liked Jackson's Wolverine and Schreiber had really gotten on my radar as an actor earlier that year with Defiance (2009) and I like people with claws! I was so sad.

At least that worked out eventually!

That is an eminently sensible approach.

With claws.
