That film can be exhibit a in a display of examples of casual, institutionalized racism. (... I mean, maybe you can't call a dance number or a film "casual" because they take a lot of time and money to execute, but the breeziness with which the society can mock and belittle... yeah. It hurts)

That's part of what makes it so jaw-dropping, honestly. Multiple people put time and effort into this musical number. It wasn't an off-the-cuff remark or an individual artist's work. It took resources and coordination in multiple arenas. And it's that racist!
