Damn! That film needs a remake as a straight gothic. How completely awful. For me, the worst part is what you say about how the psychobabble simply reduces Louise further. Yes! Because then everything about her is suspect and pathetic, and how-just-like-a-fragile-woman, whereas at least in an actual gothic, her feelings are in response to genuine mystery, or real evil afoot. Grrrrr, thinking about it is making me angry!
