It's really quite good! I mean yeah, they had some slightly dumb moments like Firth in a bath and Firth in a lake, but he gives good Darcy otherwise and Lizzie and Jane and and Bingley are all pretty perfect. I think it's a real shame it got (in)famous for Firth!Darcy, Jennifer Ehle is amazing as Elizabeth -- in fact she's pretty much My Elizabeth -- and deserves all the credit ever. It's not ABSOLUTELY faithful but comes much closer than any other adaptation....it's about on par with the 1994 Middlemarch, with Juliet Aubrey and Rufus Sewell, which I also loved. (That series set off a "Middlemarch craze," which I deeply enjoyed, it's such an amazing book.)
