I haven't seen that one, but "retro-silent" is *very* typical of Maddin. I've seen most of The Saddest Music in the World, which is sort of Maddin's take on an early-thirties musical. I've seen some of the shorts, including the hilarious Sissy Boy Slap Party, which is.... pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
