The midrashim generally make him a willing participant, both by taking particular note of chronology in a way that makes him 37 (thus stronger than his aged father) and in at least one text (I'm too lazy, and too covering in sleeping baby, to look up which/how many versions) have him tell Abraham to bind him so that he won't unwillingly flinch and spoil the sacrificial cut.
