My year has been... a rollercoaster. My divorce was finalized on May 20th, a year to the day after my ex-wife dumped me by email. Readercon last year was actually one of the first steps towards reclaiming my identity, and it was interesting to see how far I've come since then. So yes, respite is a good word for it.
